Day 11~ Last books I’ve read

11 Mar

booksLast book(s) I’ve read. Shall we call it junk food for my brain? I am what you call a complete chick lit reader. I love anything that can make me laugh, take me away to where I don’t have to think while reading and honestly go into a world that maybe I’d like to pretend existed.

Here are a couple of the books I last read:

Is your hair made of donuts? By: Joy Feldman

I read this book today to my students (actually my whole school read it to each of their classrooms today). It’s all about healthy eating and gets them to realize that what you eat, is what you may become. Such a cute and funny book. Definitely a must read if you have kids or if  you’re a teacher.

Fifty Shades Trilogy By: E L James

What can I say. I started these books last year during the phenomenon. I got through the first book within days. I then tried to get into book 2 and just couldn’t do it. Fast forward to July when I was traveling to Vegas. I was heading out the door my friend said to me, “Just grab the book. Start from the beginning and try it again. I’ll be reading it too.” So I grabbed it, threw it in my carry on and off we went to the airport. I literally finished it in the flight there, a little bit of reading by the pool and on the flight home. I don’t know why I didn’t give it a shot the first time. Next it came time to read book 3. Same.Exact. Thing.happened. Just couldn’t do it. Now it’s September, I’m traveling again and I was determined to finish this trilogy. Once I start a set of books, I have to finish them. So I grabbed the third book, and off we went. I literally could not put it down. I really liked how book 2 and 3 became a story about their relationship and love for one another and the suspense. Would I read them again? Probably not. But I am glad I finished the trilogy and I was pleased with how it ended.

shades-of-greyWhere We Belong By: Emily Giffin

Emily Giffin. She is my favorite author. I have loved everything she has written. “Something Borrowed, Something Blue and Baby Proof” are my favorites; but when I entered a contest that Emily was having to win this book, I simply had to enter it (and guess what? I won a copy of her book!). I love her style of writing. It is so easy to read and all of her books are easy to get hooked. Here’s a quick summary about the book:

“Marian Caldwell is a thirty-six year old television producer, living her dream in New York City. With a fulfilling career and satisfying relationship, she has convinced everyone, including herself, that her life is just as she wants it to be. But one night, Marian answers a knock on the door . . . only to find Kirby Rose, an eighteen-year-old girl with a key to a past that Marian thought she had sealed off forever. From the moment Kirby appears on her doorstep, Marian’s perfectly constructed world—and her very identity—will be shaken to its core, resurrecting ghosts and memories of a passionate young love affair that threaten everything that has come to define her.” ~ Emily Giffin

Where We Belong

Here is the book I am currently dying to get into:

Let’s pretend this never happened By: Jenny Lawson

My sister just read this book and did a review for it on her blog, ModMommy. While she was reading it all she kept telling me was how laugh out loud funny it was and how it was a great read. So yesterday when I went to her house, I had to get my hands on it. I’m dying to dive into it tonight. Once I’m finished, I’ll be doing a review for it as well. I’ve always have had a love for reading, since I’ve gotten older, and haven’t done reviews. But now that I’m reading a lot more and enjoying it, I’ve decided to add it to my blog. This book will be my first.

Happy Reading!

I love chic-lit. I use books to escape a little into another world. I love Emily Giffin. That last book looks hilarious. I am going to have to give that one a read.

Yeah my sister said it was hilarious. My brother in law kept asking her what was so funny. I can’t wait to start it tonight 🙂
